Overview

Public Health Promotion is the planned and systematic attempt to enable people to take action to prevent or mitigate disease. It combines insider knowledge (what do people know, do and want) with outsider knowledge (e.g. the causes of disease, epidemiology, vector control and communications and learning strategies). Public Health Promotion can be used to target a wide variety of Public Health problems bit Oxfam’s distinctive competence at present focuses on the control of diarrhoeal diseases and malaria.
