Safari joined Oxfam Rwanda in January 2018 as the Thematic Manager for Humanitarian Preparedness and Resilience Strengthening. Prior to that, he spent 6 years Sierra Leone as the Oxfam Senior Programme Manager. He has 17 years experience of programme and project management working with international NGOs in east and west Africa in development and humanitarian settings. His focus is empowering rural women and supporting men and women to adapt their livelihoods to cope with food insecurity triggered by the effects of climate change to create wealth. He has also supported work to
develop linkages between humanitarian responses and long term development.
He has worked with international organizations such as GIZ and SNV and with donors in developing sector policies and strategies for local communities, government and civil society organizations. He is fluent in English, French, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda and Creole.
