Julie starting working for Oxfam's humanitarian team October 2016. Prior to this she was a Women's Rights Specialist with Oxfam Canada, first for the Knowledge Hub on Violence against women and girls/gender-based violence (VAWG/GBV) and then with the Policy and Advocacy team. Julie is a lawyer by training and has worked on human rights and women's rights, with a particular focus on GBV in humanitarian settings. Prior to joining Oxfam Julie worked for the global GBV Area of Responsibility Working Group (GBV AoR) where she co-developed the revised IASC GBV Guidelines-a
resource that establishes standards across all areas of humanitarian response related to prevention of and response to GBV. Julie is a member of the Steering Committee for Canada's Women, Peace and Security Network and volunteers with a number of organizations working to promote women's rights and seeking to end the cycle of violence.
