Andy Bastable

Public Health Engineering Team Leader

Andy has over 20 years of practical emergency and development field experience in the water and sanitation sector. After working for various local developmental organisations, Andy joined Oxfam GB in 1990 and has since been involved in responding to humanitarian crises, as well as in-house research and development work into new emergency response equipment, methodologies and approaches.

Andy took over the leadership of Oxfam GB's Public Health Engineering team in 2002, which became part of the Oxfam Global Humanitarian Team in 2016. He was responsible for the second version of the WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Promotion) Chapter in Sphere (the manual of agreed standards in emergencies) and has spent considerable time promoting new innovations in the field of water and sanitation.
