Dr Prasanna Poornachandra

Dr.Prasanna is a doctoral holder in criminology and a qualified victimologist. Besides authoring  several research papers in the field of victimology, she is also on the editorial board of the Tokiwa International Victimology Institute journal, International Perspectives in Victimology. Most recently she has contributed to the Routledge Handbook of International Criminology.  Dr.Prasanna holds memberships in the Indian Society of Victimology, World Society of Victimology and Indian Society of Criminology.

Presently , the founder and head of the International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC), a non-governmental organization in Chennai providing support services to domestic violence and sexual abuse survivors. PCVC partners with the police and other organizations to improve responses to domestic violence towards achieving the goal of ending violence against women. It is the state (Tamilnadu) coordinator for the We Can India Campaign and holds the Secretariat of We Can Global Network (WCGN).
