Dr Abhay Shukla is an activist, physician and public health specialist. He is the coordinator of SATHI (Support for Advocacy and Training to Health Initiatives) and joint convenor of the Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (People's Health Movement) in India. His work is based on the basic tenet of health rights for all.
Abhay is committed to making health care systems more accountable to the needs and perceptions of people. As part of this work, SATHI has coordinated community-based monitoring of health care services in Maharashtra in India, in which villagers monitor government services and present a report card on the state of health care in their village.
