Benoit is the programme manager for the South Caucasus project on improving food security in Georgia and Armenia through national strategies. The project has a special focus on strengthening national alliances of civil society organisations which engage with Government on policy development, implementation and monitoring in favour of small holder farmers and women. Benoit previously worked with Oxfam GB in Myanmar as Food Security and Livelihood Coordinator supporting humanitarian, development and governance programmes with food security, livelihood and value chains.
Prior to joining Oxfam, Benoit worked with a Belgian organisation named VECO (Vredeseilanden) and a Canadian NGO, CECI, designing and implementing value chain programs in various countries such as Vietnam, Nepal and Burkina Faso. He has developed an expertise in working with cooperatives and associations, strengthening their business development and offer to members, across various sectors such as agriculture, trade, health and nutrition. He has also engaged and supported multi-stakeholder initiatives with civil society, governments and the private sector to achieve higher project
He is a graduate of the University of Sherbrooke in Canada with a Masters in Local Development and Management of Cooperatives, and also holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science with a major in International Relations. In Canada, Benoit worked with cooperatives, supporting them with business and marketing as well as start up processes.
