Overview

Oxfam GB, with support from the European Commission, implemented the ‘HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care Programme for Rural and Tribal Youth’ in four districts of Orissa and two districts of Rajasthan, India. The programme aimed to help out-of-school rural and tribal youth, aged 13-25, access information and services regarding Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), HIV and AIDS. The four-year programme ran from December 2003 to November 2007. In 2004 a needs assessment survey was carried out to assess the sexual and reproductive health status of young people and estimate the gaps in access to information, treatment and services. In 2007, a quantitative end line survey was conducted to measure changes brought about by the programme. In this evaluation, the findings of the end line quantitative survey are presented together with a comparative analysis of the base line needs assessment survey.
