Jennie Richmond

Deputy Head, International Programmes

Jennie plays a senior role in the leadership of Oxfam GB's international programmes. She has strategic leadership for key internal and external partnerships, represents the organisation at a high level, and regularly deputises for the International Programmes Director. Prior to this post Jennie led Oxfam GB's Programme Performance and Accountability team, driving the organisation's work on monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability, and ensuring that we were striving for top quality programmes.

Previously, Jennie worked with the UK's Department for International Development (DfID) for eight years, most recently heading-up its humanitarian institutions and policy work. In that role, she played a key part in the implementation of the government's Multilateral Aid Review and Humanitarian Emergency Response Review. Jennie also spent three years in La Paz from 2005 to 2008, as Head of DfID's regional Andes programme, covering Peru, Bolivia and Colombia. Prior to DfID, Jennie spent five years as a policy analyst with Christian Aid, leading on gender and participation. She also undertook short-term consultancies for the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and other organisations on approaches to civil society participation in policy and decision-making. She began her career in the refugee camps of Western Tanzania, running community services programmes for Rwandan and Burundi refugees.

Jennie holds a BA in and MPhil from the University of Birmingham in African Studies and Geography.
