Dieneke van der Wijk is an experienced humanitarian and development professional with 24 years of international development experience and expertise in Asia and Africa in programmes, policy and operations.
Dieneke has worked as Country Director in Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Indonesia and in her recent role as Deputy Regional Director-Programmes for Oxfam GB in the Asia region she was responsible for the management of South Asian countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Dieneke has undertaken research in Sri Lanka and Cambodia. Dieneke loves the complexity and challenge of achieving change for poor and marginalised people, specifically women and children and likes work that involves analysis, innovation, strategic development and working with
others ensuring development work is fit for purpose. Dieneke is now the Head of Programme Strategy and Impact for Oxfam GB.
Key projects that she is involved with are: Working on improving programme quality across of all of Oxfam's programmes with a push on programme design, implementation and MEAL; Leading the Programme Strategy and Impact team and its advisory work across Oxfam, OI and the sector; Improving Oxfam's work on programmes by adopting a "fragile lens" in chronic areas; A member of the OI Know working group; She is also continuing her role as the South Asia PGG chair.
