Bernard provides support to the Gendered Enterprise and Markets (GEM) initiative, which brings together Oxfam's experience and expertise in three areas of agricultural livelihoods programming; improving smallholder power in agricultural markets, women's economic leadership, and climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. The GEM initiative aims to directly improve the livelihoods of an estimated 40,000 smallholder farmers whilst bringing indirect benefits to almost half a million people living in poverty.
In addition to his role as GEM support officer, Bernard also works in the Ethical Trade Team, which aims to improve working conditions around the world by providing advice on labour standards best-practice to British and multi-national businesses.
Prior to joining Oxfam, he obtained an MA in International Development Management at the Institute for Development Policy and Management in Manchester, UK.
