Eugide Bashombana

HIV and AIDS Mainstreaming Programme Officer

Email: ebashombana@oxfam.org.uk

Office Location: Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo

Eugide is a HIV and AIDS mainstreaming programme co-ordinator in the DRC. He is responsible for ensuring HIV and AIDS mainstreaming in both Oxfam's work and that of Oxfam's partners in livelihoods programmes in two provinces in eastern DRC.

Prior to this, Eugide worked on designing and implementing HIV and AIDS policy with Oxfam staff and partners. He is experienced in providing technical advice to national NGOs and community-based organisations, as well as informing HIV and AIDS advocacy policy.

Before joining Oxfam, Eugide worked with the Ministry of Health and several NGOs in the DRC. He has many years' experience in HIV and AIDS communications programmes, community approach and human rights law.

In August 2010, Eugide produced a four-minute documentary entitled Raise hope among hopeless people. The documentary demonstrated how income-generating activities can bring hope to people living with HIV and AIDS. Oxfam trained 40 people how to cook nutritional food, and provided them with nutritional education. The participants were happy to learn that they could purchase inexpensive nutritional food for their families, and how to cook good wholesome meals to eat at home or to sell so that they could have sufficient money to purchase essential drugs for HIV and AIDS treatment.

Eugide holds a degree in Management.
