Sophia has worked as a humanitarian and conflict policy adviser since 2007. She works primarily on African issues, with a current focus on DRC and South Sudan, covering areas such as peacekeeping and protection of civilians, fragile states, humanitarian assistance and stabilisation.

Sophia has worked for Oxfam since 2003, first as policy adviser on refugee and asylum issues, then in 2005-2006 as conflict reduction and protection manager in Liberia, and finally in 2006-2007 as protection adviser in the Democratic Republic of Congo, before moving to her current role.

Prior to joining Oxfam, Sophia worked for UNHCR and for the Legal Services Commission. She holds a BA from the University of Oxford and a European masters degree in Human Rights and Democratisation.
