Provash works as a humanitarian programme coordinator in Viet Nam. He specialises in project and programme cycle management, managing emergency preparedness, developing contingency plans, emergency relief and rehabilitation, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and livelihoods and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects. He also has experience in managing saving and credit projects, and local level institution building, as well as with national level agency and inter-agency coordination.
He joined Oxfam in 2000, and has worked in Bangladesh, India, the Philippines and Viet Nam. Provash has worked in the development sector since in 1987, initially with GUP, a national NGO in Bangladesh, before moving to Anando Bangladesh, ActionAid UK, Medecins Sans Frontières Holland, and EU and Bangladeshi government bilateral projects.
Provash has been published in the area of user-managed public health programmes and presented case studies on community preparedness for effective response.
Provash holds a BA in Economics, a BA in Law, a MA in Economics specialising in rural development, and a PhD in Disaster Management. He is also a registered pharmacist category B, under the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh.
