This toolkit is a practical resource for Civil Society Organisations and citizens who either want the basic skills, idea and framework to get started or want to improve their influencing skills and target the work more effectively.
The toolkit brings the wealth of learning and practice Oxfam has amassed globally and makes it accessible and gives practical tips and ideas.
Starting from the very beginning with the selecting of an advocacy issue, the toolkit offers some tools to analyse the different distribution of power and assets that affect and advocacy issue. It presents different approaches that can be used in an advocacy strategy and how to combine these approaches effectively. Step by step it outlines how to communicate an advocacy issue , how to work with the media, how to monitor and how to raise funds for advocacy initiatives.
Visit the Learning Advocacy website for all of the resources and related materials.
The toolkit was created at the end of a cycle of training and mentoring activities provided to a number of civil society organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the basis of this experience, we decided to share with more organizations and citizens the tools for planning and implementing influencing activities.
The resources have been defined and developed with the support and advice of the training participants who suggested the content, reviewed texts, and shared their experiences.
We really hope this resource will inspire you and support your initiatives for a fairer and more inclusive society and for more accountable governments!
