Amit leads the regional economic empowerment team for the Asia region, which aims to be a high quality knowledge group leading internally and externally on Oxfam's right to sustainable livelihoods, women's economic leadership and engaging with the private sector.
He joined Oxfam in 2004 and has worked in different roles in the economic empowerment and private sector teams. He has experience in combining domain expertise on agriculture, finance, labour rights, and value chain development with strategic and innovative thinking, and alliance building to target overall sustainability of the environment within which governments, businesses and communities operate.
Prior to joining Oxfam, Amit worked in the government; Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh in India. He also worked in private sector as a venture funder and with NGOs such as CARE in India.
He serves as a member of the executive board of Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) and is a member of the advisory board of ImagineIndia Foundation.
