Alvaro works as private sector adviser for Oxfam GB. His work involves: supporting regional and field staff to include an ICT dimension in Oxfam's livelihoods programs; leading Oxfam's participation in a Mobile Nutrition Programme that will take place over 3 years in 14 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia; developing innovative and strategic projects and programs that use ICTs to deliver information and financial services to smallholder farmers; establishing and managing new partnerships with private sector companies across the ICT and agriculture sectors; and developing
strategy around private sector engagement.
He is a development economist with experience working for national and international NGOs and think tanks in the UK, Tanzania, Austria, India, Mozambique, Peru and Spain. Previously, he worked for three years in the private sector at IBM in business strategy and IT consultancy.
Alvaro graduated in Business and Economic Administration and holds a Masters degree in Globalisation and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).
