Sandhya has been a programme officer in Oxfam since October 2001. Her current role is to lead on women's leadership programmes and integrate the learning from the Raising Her Voice project into Oxfam Nepal's work to promote women in governance.
Sandhya led and managed Raising Her Voice in Nepal with six partners and previously managed projects and partners on dalit rights and gender programmes, including anti trafficking, VAW and gender mainstreaming projects.
Before joining Oxfam, Sandhya worked as national coordinator for the Alliance against Trafficking in Women & children in Nepal and as Programme Officer for Child Workers in Nepal, where she managed a Transit Centre for Children at Risk.
Sandhya has a wide range of research experience and has sat on a number of child welfare, women's rights and anti-trafficking bodies at a national, international and governmental level. She has also written on trafficking and domestic violence to a number of magazines and conferences. During her early career Sandhya spent a year teaching in a Jan Jagriti Lower Secondary High School, Ikudol, a remote hilly area of Lalitpur district.
