Mona works with Oxfam GB in Asia, focusing on the We Can Campaign.
We Can is a campaign with a positive message, a hugely ambitious target of reaching 50 million people, and a challenging goal - to try and change the deeply-held beliefs and socio-cultural attitudes of men and women that allow and promote perpetration of violence against women.
Through changes at these deeper levels, it aims to 'reduce the social acceptance of violence against women and girls' and thus create the groundwork for preventing and ending it. It promotes not only externally-directed, but internal activism, and creates change at the personal and family level, the hardest change of all.
We Can has now spread to 15 countries.
